The Distributed-user Module allows users of InSite to download data to their PC from a remote data base managed by InSite on a server computer.
The module’s versatility allows the networking to be tailored to the organisation’s particular requirements.
Any licensed user of the module can transform their InSite project into a server (for sending) and/or a client (for receiving). Individual PCs can run many servers or clients.
The communications across the network uses DCOM (Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model). The integrity of the server data base is maintained at all times.
The server module runs concurrently with the rest of InSite. Thus, a user working on the server will not be disturbed by a client viewing or downloading event data.
When the user of a client logs onto a PC across the network they can visualise all the servers running on that PC and all the event data in each server.
The client user can select whether to download just the event parameters or both the parameters and waveforms.
