The modules chosen by a user depend on their data application. Additional modules can be purchased at a later date and added to a license if required. InSite comprises of 13 modules as follows:

Here are some example scenarios...

Team Manager

Example Modules: Data-management, Location Team Manager
  • A team manager needs to have easy access to processed data; for quality control, project management, data reporting and presentations to superiors.
  • InSite allows event data to be easily shared amongst users, giving a team manager access to data from an automatic system or a project’s engineers.
  • A two-module license (Data-management and Location Modules) will allow a team manager to visualise source locations and source parameters in a 3D scene of the site being investigated.
  • This system provides a team manager with the answers to the fundamental questions: where is the seismicity and how big is it?
Other Modules: Mechanism, Waveform, Distributed-user

Project Engineer

Example Modules: Data-management, Waveform, Location, Mechanism Project Engineer
  • A project engineer, working on seismic monitoring in the Petroleum, Mining, Civil or Rad Waste sectors, needs to examine, process and interpret recorded data.
  • InSite allows seismic data, potentially from different monitoring projects and different acquisition hardware, to be easily managed, processed and visualised.
  • A four-module license (Data-management, Waveform, Location and Mechanism modules) provides a project engineer with the tools needed to process waveforms into source locations, parameters and mechanisms.
  • This system gives a project engineer an efficient and effective tool for investigating patterns and causes of seismicity recorded around a variety of facilities.
Other Modules: Advanced Waveform, Distributed-user, External Communications

Research User / Post-Processing

Example Modules: Data-management, Waveform, Advanced Waveform, Location, External Communications Research User
  • A research user needs to have a comprehensive set of standard functions that can then be expanded by implementing their own development codes.
  • The External-Communications Module allows a user to interface their own codes to InSite’s data structures and to access the new functionality by point and click.
  • A four-module license (Data-management, Waveform, Advanced Waveform and External-Communications Modules) provides a researcher with advanced waveform processing and the ability to then send parameters to their own codes.
  • This system allows a researcher to focus on their own research and development, whilst InSite manages the data and its visualisation.
Other Modules: Advanced Location, Mechanism, Distributed-user, Velocity

Real-time Processing

Example Modules: Data-management, Waveform, Location, Leach Real-time Processing
  • A real-time processing system needs to be used on projects where engineers are required to quickly get feedback on the monitored seismicity.
  • InSite’s Leach Module captures data from remote acquisition hardware, and performs automatic processing, so as to provide instant results to engineers.
  • A four-module version (Data-management, Waveform, Location and Leach Modules) provides processing and visualisation of all the standard seismic parameters.
  • The Leach Module can be tailored to the seismic acquisition hardware used on site. Adding the Distributed-user Module allows team members to access and download data to remote work stations.
Other Modules: Distributed-user, Velocity

Non-destructive Testing

Example Modules: Data-management, Waveform, Location, Mechanism, Velocity NDT
  • Laboratory testing of rock and concrete samples, and load-bearing structures, provides important information on the operational stability of engineered sites.
  • InSite manages, processes and visualises 3D velocity and acoustic emission data from non-destructive ultrasonic tests.
  • A five-module license (Data-management, Waveform, Location, Mechanism and Velocity Modules) performs the standard functions required, as well as advanced moment tensor studies to examine fracturing mechanics.
  • This technology provides an engineer the ability to investigate the dynamics of failure and quantify the effects of fracturing.
Other Modules: Distributed-user, Leach
