ASC at Second European Geothermal Review
ASC presented a communication at the Second European Geothermal Review meeting that took place between 21 and 23 June in Mainz, Germany
The Second European Geothermal Review provided a forum to discuss future developments and strategies for geothermal heat and power production as well as the challenges it presents. Interest and progress in geothermal energy has increased rapidly in recent years, in response to economic and environmental concerns as well as the need to ensure energy security. Innovative technologies for reservoir development, management and sustainability are vital for the future of the geothermal industry and benefit from international collaboration.
The SEGR meeting was organised by Bestec GmbH, a renewable energy project company focussed on geothermal and involved in projects worldwide.
An oral presentation entitled 'Observations of the Microseismicity at the Landau Geothermal Reservoirs' focused on induced seismicity. This has long been recognised as important for the geothermal industry, as part of reservoir stimulation, development and monitoring. One of the challenges for the industry is also to understand and minimise risks associated with induced seismic events.
